The Interval newsletter is published twice a year and highlights ongoing projects, cooperative news and useful information.
HISTORY OF THE INTERVAL
Throughout its history, all recognize that the Interval offers an environment where it is possible to reconnect with nature
1948: The government grants the Archdiocese of Montreal the land where the inn is now located for a holiday settlement run by the Young Catholic Worker
1952: The archdiocese obtained a larger concession, 150 feet around Legault Lake.
1971: The first generation of the Montreal Young Workers Association was born. Subsequently, the inn is recognized as the Interval, meaning a stop between two work episodes.
2014: A solidarity cooperative is created to mobilize the community and preserve this natural heritage.
2016: Interval, an open-air solidarity cooperative and the Association des jeunes travailleurs et travailleurs de Montréal, merge into one entity with the aim of carrying out a development project. A community kitchen is provided at the hostel.
2017: 20 forest gîtes are installed on the site
2020: Interval expands its offer of accommodation and equipping about twenty rustic camping sites and about ten sites with services (water and electricity).
2021: The chalet La Butte is completely renovated for visitors in accommodation. The Noctambule is now transformed into our 21st gite.
2024: Major work to bring the Auberge to safety standards in order to sustain it.

OUR MEMBERS
The Coopérative has about 50 members who are mainly users of cottages and other accommodations, but also individuals and organizations that support our mission. It is the Assembly of Members which defines the broad orientations of the Open Air Base and chooses the persons who sit on the Board of Directors. Members also contribute to the management of the Cooperative through various committees. Through this democratic structure, we encourage broad participation in the development of the Interval.

OUR BENEVALS
Our dynamism is based on the volunteer work done by members and other Interval friends who engage on the site on a regular basis or during the two annual chores. It is largely thanks to this incredible team of volunteers that the Interval was able to grow year after year. Without their generous support and overwhelming enthusiasm, the Cooperative could not be what it is today. This spirit of solidarity embodies the values that are at the heart of the Plein Air l-Interval base.
