L’Interval’s newsletter is published twice a year and highlights ongoing projects, cooperative news and useful information.
HISTORY OF L’INTERVAL
Throughout its history, L’Interval has been recognized as a place where people can reconnect with nature.
1948: The government grants the Archdiocese of Montreal the land where the lodge now stands for a summer camp run by the Young Christian Workers.
1952: The Archdiocese obtains a larger concession extending 150 feet around Lake Legault.
1971: The first generation of the Montreal Young Workers Association is established. The lodge later becomes known as L’Interval, a name referring to a break between periods of work.
2014: A solidarity cooperative is created to bring the community together and preserve this natural heritage.
2016: L’Interval Outdoor Solidarity Cooperative and the Montreal Young Workers Association merge into a single organization to carry out a development project. A community kitchen is added to the lodge.
2017: 20 forest cottages are added to the site.
2020: L’Interval expands its accommodation options by adding approximately 20 rustic campsites and 10 serviced campsites with water and electricity.
2021: Chalet La Butte is completely renovated for overnight guests. Le Noctambule is transformed into L’Interval’s 21st cottage.
2024: Major renovations are carried out to bring the Auberge up to current safety standards and ensure its long-term sustainability.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CHARTER
We have some great news to share: L’Interval’s Sustainable Development Charter is finally here!
Finally arrived!
Adopted by our Board of Directors and presented to our members this winter, this Charter is intended to serve as an essential guide
for all our decisions and actions. Whether for new projects, establishing
standards or planning activities, we will refer to this Charter as much as possible to guide our
decisions toward a greener and more sustainable future.
This Charter is a living document that will evolve to better reflect changing realities and
advances in sustainable development.
OUR MEMBERS
The Cooperative has around 50 members, primarily guests who use our cottages and other accommodations, as well as individuals and organizations that support our mission. The General Assembly of Members sets the main directions of the outdoor recreation centre and elects the members of the Board of Directors. Members also contribute to the management of the Cooperative through various committees.Through this democratic structure, we encourage broad participation in the development of L’Interval.

OUR VOLUNTEERS
Our vitality relies on the volunteer work of our members and other friends of L’Interval who regularly contribute on site or participate in our two annual volunteer work days. It is largely thanks to this incredible team of volunteers that L’Interval has been able to grow year after year. Without their generous support and tremendous enthusiasm, the Cooperative would not be what it is today.
