The Coalition Conservation Mont-Kaaikop is a volunteer citizen group that has been working since 2013 to preserve Mount Kaaikop and its surrounding forests for future generations.
Mount Kaaikop is the second-highest mountain in the Laurentians after Mont-Tremblant and is an important symbol of regional identity. Its territory covers 40.5 km2 of old-growth natural forests that have been protected over time. These public forests are rich in biodiversity and, surrounded by private forests, play a crucial role in ecological connectivity and, consequently, in protecting biodiversity.

The territory of the municipality of Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides covers approximately 110 km², is located 100 km north of Montreal, and is bordered by the municipalities of Lantier, Saint-Donat, Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, Val-David, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson and Entrelacs.
